Behind the Scene: My Creative Process
I often get asked about how I create my designs, so I wanted to share a little peek behind the curtain of my creative process. First and foremost, everything begins with a pencil and paper. I start by hand-drawing all of my motifs, just like a traditional artist. I love the feeling of sketching, allowing my ideas to flow freely on the page. Once I’ve got my design, I bring it to life by coloring it with markers, adding depth and vibrancy.
After that, I digitize the artwork and use it to create the patterns you see. But what makes my designs unique is the inspiration behind them—flowers, and specifically, the beautiful ones that grow in my garden in Alaska. I’m lucky enough to have a stunning array of wildflowers that fuel my creativity, and I aim to capture that natural beauty in my work.
The final touch? I’d say it’s the little bit of “cuteness” I bring to each design. Whether it’s a playful twist in the shapes or the gentle details in the colors, I want my patterns to feel joyful, light-hearted, and full of warmth.
It’s this mix of traditional techniques, personal inspiration, and a touch of whimsy that makes my designs one-of-a-kind. Thanks for following along on this journey with me!
